David Trautman

David Trautman is PhD Candidate at the University of California, San Diego in the Department of Education Studies. His research focuses on school and district administrator’s beliefs about equity, including how these beliefs are developed and translated into professional practice. He draws on sociological theory and social network analysis to better understand the implications of equity mindsets for policy-making and change in traditional school district environments. In his work, he focuses on the ways that organizational systems in traditional school districts enable and constrain principal’s equity practice. This approach assumes that individuals’ beliefs and practices about equity are contextually embedded in organizational and relational ecosystems.
