Yi-Hwa Liou

Yi-Hwa Liou is a Professor in the Department of Educational Management at the National Taipei University of Education. Her research focuses on educational leadership, organizational learning, and systemwide change, with particular attention to how professional and organizational networks both shape and are shaped by leadership, collaborative practice, and policy enactment across educational settings. Her work is grounded in a methodological emphasis on social network analysis and mixed methodologies. 

She is especially interested in how intentional network design can strengthen leadership capacity, support professional collaboration, and contribute to sustainable development in schools and educational organizations. She is also committed to fostering research-practice partnerships, particularly those informed by network science, to help organizations engage in strategic planning and development. 

Her scholarly contributions have earned international recognition, including the 2021 Emerald Young Researcher Award, the 2019 AERA Division A Early Career Award, and the 2018 Ta-You Wu Memorial Award from Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

As the founder of NetLead Lab, she brings together researchers, educators, and community partners to co-create networked learning ecosystems that bridge research, policy, and practice. Through this work, she supports efforts to build more responsive, connected, and resilient educational systems.
