Yong-Shiuan Lee

Yong-Shiuan Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Feng Chia University in Taiwan. Her fields of interest include population dynamics, demographic modelling, macroeconomic analysis, statistical methods, machine learning and deep learning. Her research primarily focuses on dynamical systems and predictive models.

Her current work spans two main areas. One focuses on modeling stock prices movements using differential equations and dynamical systems, with an emphasis on developing numerical solutions that account for time-varying patterns and nonlinear behaviors in financial data. This research aims to capture the nonstationary and nonlinear nature of stock price fluctuations and provide meaningful economic explanation for their dynamics. The other area investigates how integrated learning models—such as project-based and cooperative learning—can strengthen students’ self-efficacy in FinTech and mathematics, especially among those with limited prior experience in these subjects.

Her contribution to diversity, equity, and inclusion lies in the design of interdisciplinary learning environments that address the varied needs of students in STEM-related fields. She examines how peer networks form within these contexts and how they support student learning, motivation, and confidence—particularly among those without prior technical experience. Through this work, she contributes to efforts toward more inclusive STEM education by fostering environments where students can access support, share knowledge, and develop a sense of belonging in mathematically and technologically intensive fields.
